Who am I now?
For many of us we have let our jobs determine our identities, yet most recently these skins as masks have been partially or totally shed without much forewarning - shocked off of our faces while covered by self-sewn masks that are keeping us safely hidden.
What is my identity?
This existential question emerges now within a societal context that has radically shifted. Why? because what matters most, our health, our families, and our communities have been threatened. If you have lost your job, for many a primary source of validation of oneself and a primary definition of who one is, you are mostly likely rushing to find a similar mask that fits your face really quickly. However, you are not quite sure if this will actually reflect who you are and what you want; your authentic yearning! Deep down inside you know that you really need to slow it down.
Authentic Re-Branding
Personally, my strongest times of identification were the times when I was called out and had a strong voice. This voice and what I shared when I spoke had more to do with my identification, and perhaps this was my “true” identity or Brand. Being called out and responding with a resonant voice is a divine experience and it has to do with your innate creativity as it manifests against a real need.
Pause, reflect, don't hasten the process.
The world calls, and what are you tuning into for your voice to respond? If you can't hear this calling, then its clear that you need time to pause, be and reflect. Redefinition or "re-branding" will happen later in the process so don't short-change the steps to get to the outcome that your heart desires.
When you create and bring your voice to the conversation with the world you are identified. And this is not as a title or a role, it is beyond definition. When your voice resonates and it transforms something or someone there is absolutely no doubt that you are living a valid life, one of authenticity.
What a great quote - "Being called out and responding with a resonant voice is a divine experience and it has to do with your innate creativity as it manifests against a real need."
